3 of the best

Its no secret that red lips have been a massive accessory this year and with so many brands and shades on the market, we’ve selected 3 of the most memorable and duplicated.

In third place we’re giving a nod to Miss Taylor Swift

This antique collecting, satchel wearing, catchy song singing temptress has been caught flaunting hot lips for a while now and she’s doing it well. It seems CoverGirl’s aptly  named”Hot” LipPerfection Lip Colour has been the shade of choice. Agree? Like what you see? Bag one for yourself here

Making the cut at number two.. its Miss Robyn Fenty, but you can call her Rihanna.

Rihrih

Currently touring the globe with Diamonds Rihanna has given us many looks recently, well actually…she’s always been switching things up.

One thing that has reappeared over and over however is that gorgeous red lip. It’s pretty much reached iconic status now, so much so that power house MAC have collaborated with the Basian  beauty to produce a red all of her very own. If you can get your hands on it because the stock seems to vanish as soon as it hits the shelves; you too can feel like only girl in the world with it. Ok…maybe not the only girl in the world but the only one in your house at the very least!

So who’s at number one? The original diamond girl, Marilyn Monroe

MarlynRed

Not sure who’s done it better but this iconic beauty taught us long before SJP that you can be glamorous at any time, any day, for any reason, whilst doing the grocery shopping or tackling the  laundry. And what’s more glam then a rouge pout? There are so many things this woman is remembered for and no doubt she’ll make an appearance on this blog again but for now, Miss Monroe, we salute you.

EArdenRed

Whilst the exact shade may no longer be available, its widely known that Elizabeth Arden was one of Marlyn’s favourite brands. Its said that she used several shades to produce her red of choice but Arden was a staple.

Plump up the volume

If you’re not quite ready for the filler injections and the plumping lip glosses are not cutting it, how about trying these lip exercises for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference. Please note that you will look a little crazy doing this so best keep this routine indoors. But hey if you’ve got the confidence of a queen to do them on the bus, tube or any place where people are…we salute you!

Whether it’s to keep your gob gorgeous or heal splits and chaps its currently suffering from, here’s a few tips to keep you puckered up.

  1. Stop bloody licking ’em! For those few seconds after you’ve licked your lips everything’s fine, they’re shiny and feel cool but the countdown is on. The moisture evaporates quickly and leaves them dryer then before. The enzymes in saliva that keeps our mouths clean and digest food are extremely harsh on your pout so stop covering your lips with them. lips-tongue_00332790
  2. Lips have no melanin in them so help them out by using products that have SPF included for added protection. Burnt lips are not fun.
  3. Matt lipsticks can be extremely drying -that’s why they last so long- so switch things up and don’t wear them often.
  4. So those tiny, stingy annoying little cuts that sometimes appear what seems like overnight, can be obliterated with the help of a little hydrocortisone cream
  5. To keep the kisser supple try to use balms that have the following ingredients:

Beeswax
Shea Butter
Vitamin E
Almond Oil
Jojoba Oil
Coconut Oil

You hear of its benefits all the time, its true for great skin, bright eyes and a host of other things but drinking plenty of water will keep those lip lovely .

This week its all things lippy so we’re kicking it off with  few tips to get yours in check!

You’re not done yet

It’s ok to want to give up, keeping the momentum going can be extremely difficult sometimes. But once you’ve had a moan about it, or taken a break…regroup, remind yourself what the struggle is for and keep it moving.
