How to be happier – 1#

For the first in a series of “How to be happier” posts, lets begin with ‘Be present and in the moment’. Life is fleeting and today only happens once. Its far too easy to get caught up in the craziness our busy lives create. We’ve got to take the time to stop and get a good long deep whiff of those roses. Otherwise what’s it all for? Continuously fretting about tomorrow blinds us to the small moments of ‘happy’ that are happening all around. Life can’t be TiVo’d or put on Series Link to be caught up on later. There is and will always be some obstacle to get over and around, worrying will not make that feat any easier. Soooooo…if only for a few minutes a day, get your head out the fog and stop! Stop fixing, stop searching, stop doing. All except breathing, just slow it right down and bloody well stop. This is your life. Count the blessings then when you’re done, change the things you can and to hell with the things you can’t.



Ever felt alone with the crazy thoughts in your head? Like if you were to tell your closest friend they’d probably not understand, see you differently or just be plain mortified? Well take comfort in this then…we’re all crazy, its not just you! Want proof? Whisper it. Whisper is a great social networking site where you can offload your deepest, darkest, weirdest, most scandalous confessional secrets but the best part is, it’s done anonymously! No one knows you or sees a picture of you so you get the truth out without the awkward eye contact dodging explanation after! And once you’re done (or if you’d rather) you can see what others are getting off their chests. The great thing about reading the confessions of others is it highlights there are so many people on this planet that have the same quirks, are going through the same situations or even have it worse then us. They can help give a little perspective on things and with certain posts, they can even inspire. Some are of joy, some of loss and grief others offer hope, tolerance and understanding. Now is the time

We at Showtime are dedicated to getting us all feeling great about ourselves. There are so many roles that we have to play on a daily basis whether it be parent, partner, sibling, friend, boss, employee, counsellor…we’re not always able to keep up! Sometimes we’re just too tired, overwhelmed, broke, we can’t be bothered or just don’t have a clue. And you know what? That’s ok! We don’t always have to have it together or have the answer, is that even possible?? We put too much pressure on ourselves knowingly and unknowingly. Society says one thing, our loved ones and peers say another…its so easy to get caught in a confusing depressive rut. So…Showtime is here to remind you to take time for yourself. Getting in a positive head space gives us clarity and can make anything possible! Showtime is your resource to reboot your positive thinking, to get motivated and inspired. Life is a performance and some days are much easier to get through then others. We need to be good to ourselves. Let’s scoff that thick calorie riddled brownie if we want it, sit in the bath for that extra 10 minutes, go for a jog to get the blood pumping, say “NO” if we really can’t do it and stay positive. If today was a rough day…it’s over now and tomorrow is an opportunity to get things back on track. Our failures are stepping stones to our success so after a fall, lets get on up and keep it moving.
