Red is for….

….whatever you want really. Always a fan of a red lip, Bobbi Brown has launched a new shade called New Berry which offers an Autumn twist on the typical powerhouse colour. It promises to last all day without bleeding. Have a look see….



With the sun currently trying to make up for all the terrible summers we’ve had over the last few years, I hope you’re guzzling loads of water! It is baking out there and while fruit juices, yoghurt smoothies and all those other yummy drinks sure taste amazing, they won’t do for you what a good old glass of water will. Check this out…

               More water = great skin

Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin moisturised helping to maintain a healthy glow. People who have dry, dull skin and/or certain skin conditions are often encouraged to drink more water. This is because having plenty of fluids within the body helps to replenish skin tissues and maintain its elasticity. If you don’t drink enough water, your body will try to retain it in order to conserve resources. This retention makes your skin puffy and can even lead to bloating.

Water suppresses your appetite, so you don’t eat as much. Drinking plenty of water also prevents fluid retention, because your body won’t try to retain water if it’s getting enough. Drinking water also helps your body burn stored fat. If you’re not drinking enough water, your liver will be forced to help your kidneys detoxify your body. When you drink plenty of water, your kidneys don’t need any extra help, so your liver will be able to metabolize stored fat more efficiently. Drinking water flushes toxins from your body.

Drinking water can increase your cognitive function. Your brain needs a lot of oxygen in order to work at optimum levels. Drinking lots of water ensures that your brain gets all the oxygen it needs. Drinking eight to ten cups of water per day (we know its hard to do) can improve your levels of cognitive performance by as much as 30%! Drinking plenty of water also supports nerve function. It ensures that your body’s electrolyte levels remain high enough to allow your nerves to relay messages to and from the brain in the way they were meant to.

                     More water = cool body

One reason why the body needs enough water is for temperature control which is achieved due to the thermal properties of water and the efficiency of the release of heat from the body when sweat evaporates from the surface of skin.

Currently touring the globe with Diamonds Rihanna has given us many looks recently, well actually…she’s always been switching things up.


 One thing that has reappeared over and over however is that gorgeous red lip. It’s pretty much reached iconic status now, so much so that power house MAC have collaborated with the Basian  beauty to produce a red all of her very own. If you can get your hands on it because the stock seems to vanish as soon as it hits the shelves; you too can feel like only girl in the world with it. Ok…maybe not the only girl in the world but the only one in your house at the very least!

Not sure who’s done it better but this iconic beauty taught us long before SJP that you can be glamorous at any time, any day, for any reason, whilst doing the grocery shopping or tackling the  laundry. And what’s more glam then a rouge pout? There are so many things this woman is remembered for and no doubt she’ll make an appearance on this blog again but for now, Miss Monroe, we salute you.


Whilst the exact shade may no longer be available, its widely known that Elizabeth Arden was one of Marlyn’s favourite brands. Its said that she used several shades to produce her red of choice but Arden was a staple.



Whether it’s to keep your gob gorgeous or heal splits and chaps its currently suffering from, here’s a few tips to keep you puckered up.

  1. Stop bloody licking ’em! For those few seconds after you’ve licked your lips everything’s fine, they’re shiny and feel cool but the countdown is on. The moisture evaporates quickly and leaves them dryer then before.   2. Lips have no melanin in them so help them out by using products that have SPF included for added protection. Burnt lips are not fun.
  3. Matt lipsticks can be extremely drying -that’s why they last so long- so switch things up and don’t wear them often.
  4. So those tiny, stingy annoying little cuts that sometimes appear what seems like overnight, can be obliterated with the help of a little hydrocortisone cream
  5. To keep the kisser supple try to use balms that have the following ingredients:

Shea Butter
Vitamin E
Almond Oil
Jojoba Oil
Coconut Oil
